This is an endemic weevil, new to science, accepted by the Center for Studies of European/Palearctic Curculionoidea, Mönchengladbach, Germany on 15 June 2010, Published 1 July 2010.
Echinodera cyprica is so far known only from Drouseia and Troodos Mts: Stavros and Cedar Valley, associated with litter from trees of the genus Quercus.

December 2011. A new endemic species of scorpion, Buthus kunti, has been identified. It is very similar to M. cyprius and I'm not yet certain about distinguishing features, other than it appears to be larger. It is possible that its venom may be more harmful.
